Our Favorite Trips From 2022

As we approach 2023, take a look back on some of our guests’ best road trips from 2022.

Reflecting on 2022 here at Vanish feels like looking through a pile of postcards from some of the most beautiful places across the US and Canada. We’ve sent countless guests out on some pretty amazing adventures, and we can’t wait to send even more on their way in 2023.

To celebrate the new year, we decided to put together a list of some of our renters’ awesome trips from the past 12 months. There truly were too many cool expeditions to put them all in one listicle, but we thought we’d still show off a few of our faves to keep the wanderlust alive.

Lauren’s Cross-Country Trip

Picking up “Lucy” the van from our NYC location, Lauren had a blast traveling across the country on a nearly two-week-long escapade. See below for an overview of her epic trip alongside her dog Lucy!

St. Louis, Missouri

For her first stop, Lauren explored St. Louis through the fresh lens of van life. If it’s your first time visiting the historic city, you’ll want to see (of course) the Gateway Arch.

Oklahoma

Lauren also explored the state of Oklahoma, stopping at various Hipcamp sites at night to immerse themselves in nature. There are countless beautiful sites to explore in the state, some located on rivers and lakes with canoes for use!

White Sands National Park, New Mexico

Next, Lauren took her Vanish campervan to one of the most magical parks in the United States: White Sands National Park. Filled with rolling dunes of rare gypsum sand, you’ll no doubt be able to get lost in the wonders of the land and nearby landmarks for several days.

Rocky Mountains, Colorado

On her last stop before heading home, Lauren traveled north towards Colorado and explored the wondrous Rocky Mountains that have inspired centuries of art and literature; it was truly a perfect end to her once-in-a-lifetime road trip.

Bill & Stephanie’s Leaf-Peeping Journey

Bill and Stephanie decided to take a campervan to a marathon Bill was competing in up near Lake Placid during peak leaf-peeping season.

Lake Placid, New York

Stopping in Lake Placid to take in the fall foliage is a marvelous way to spend your autumn; spending time on the lake itself is a must, as you can explore all it has to offer for days. Have dinner and drinks at The Cottage at Mirror Lake Inn, take a hike on the Cobble Hill trail, or simply rent a boat from one of the nearby outposts to spend your day on the tranquil waters.

Jordyn’s Texas Travels

Jordyn and his partner explored Texas on one of our inaugural Austin road trips, and also visited White Sands — but along the way, they stopped at some of the state’s best hidden gems.

Marfa, Texas

Jordyn found his new obsession at the ultimate hot spot for eclectic artists from around the world: Marfa. The legendary Prada store, however, is just for decoration. You’re sure to fall in love with all the local shops you can check out, and stay at one of the coolest campgrounds in the state: El Cosmico.

Guadalupe Mountains

Next, Jordyn stopped at one of Texas’ awe-inspiring mountain ranges. Explore some of the highest peaks in the state of Texas in the Guadalupe Mountains; go backpacking, birdwatching, or just navigate through the range in your campervan for some scenic views you’ll never forget.
